Dem donors to gather in Palm Beach as Kamala campaign backers press for 'comprehensive answers'

"It's been almost two months and no one has given any sort of honest or comprehensive answers as to why they blew through essentially $2.5 billion," she said, later adding, "And there's been no introspection, no sense of humility."

Early in 2025, a group of wealthy Democratic donors will be gathering in Palm Beach, Florida to discuss how the party can recover after President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory in November over Vice President Kamala Harris.

American Bridge will be hosting dozens of donors at a luxury Palm Beach hotel between January 31 and February 3, spokesperson for the group Alexandra De Luca told the New York Times. American Bridge, which includes several nonprofits groups and a super PAC, raised around $150 million during the 2024 election cycle.

Around 150 donors or prospective donors are expected to attend the "Democracy Matters" gathering, which is its seventh iteration, and attendees will hear from elected officials, many of whom won particularly difficult races. Among those speaking will be Mitch Landrieu, a former Biden administration official, Jennifer Rubin, a Washington Post opinion columnist, and Jim Messina, Barack Obama’s re-election campaign manager, among others.

Bradley Beychok, the group’s co-founder, said, "This was a close election, and we lost. But we can’t just move on without identifying what we as a party failed at, addressing solutions and forging ahead. Our job is to analyze a 360-degree view of last November and offer solutions to help address and solve for the challenges that lie ahead."

This comes as some Democrats have been dissatisfied with the lack of answers from the Kamala Harris campaign over how billions of dollars were blown through. DNC National Finance Committee member Lindy Li told NewsNation that donors are "feeling frustrated" because "no one has taken any responsibility."

"It's been almost two months, and no one has given any sort of honest or comprehensive answers as to why they blew through essentially $2.5 billion," she said, later adding, "And there's been no introspection, no sense of humility."

"A lot of the senior advisors went on Pod Save America and basically blamed everybody else under the sun except themselves."

She said that the "consultant class in Washington DC" just moves "from one campaign to the next and they don’t learn any lessons."
