"If you see something happening in Wilmette, in our communities, make sure to give them a call, take out your phone and take video."
A Democrat running for Illinois State Senate, Patrick Hanley, revealed that agents were staying at a local hotel and urged his followers to call the hotel in an effort to get them to "reconsider whether or not they let government agents stay there in the future." He also urged his followers to call an ICE reporting hotline if they "see something happening."
"ICE agents are staying in Wilmette. That’s not to say that they’re operating there just yet, although they have picked up people in Lincolnwood, Niles, Skokie, and Glenview, so they’re getting pretty darn close," he said, adding that the agents were staying at a local Residence Inn hotel.
"It would be a real shame if folks knew that, and if they called the Residence Inn by Marriott, tell them how they feel about rogue federal agents staying in their neighborhoods, whether that might make them feel uncomfortable."
"You know, there’s some worry about racial profiling and aggression by federal agents, so definitely don’t call this number right here," he said sarcastically, "because if they got enough phone calls from angry enough people, I mean, the Residence Inn, let alone Marriott corporate, might reconsider whether or not they let government agents stay there in the future. And what a terrible, what a terrible thing that would be."
He also urged his followers to save the number for the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant & Refugee Rights’ (ICIRR) hotline. "If you see something happening in Wilmette, in our communities, make sure to give them a call, take out your phone and take video."
ICIRR’s website states that call options on the hotline include "report ICE activity," "Healthcare resources for immigrants and refugees," and "Deportation Defense: if you or a loved one is in removal proceedings and you need assistance locating them or connecting with an immigration legal provider," among other options.
ICIRR states that it is "dedicated to promoting the rights of immigrants and refugees to full and equal participation in the civic, cultural, social, and political life of our diverse society." The organization also offers an "Eyes on ICE" text alert system "to get updates on ICE’s activity."
Hanley wrote in an update a few days after posting the video to Instagram, "This reel was posted 10/9 and we have had no new information confirming current stays. It sounds like the hotel has heard loud and clear from the community (with sincere apologies to the hard working front desk folks). Stay vigilant: when we hear about other actions *we definitely shouldn't take to protect our neighbors* we'll be sure to share. Please focus efforts on mutual aid, support for pantries, and rapid response."

At least this candidate outed himself for the traitor he is.
