CBS News did not ask Mark Kelly about fraud.
Arizona Senator Mark Kelly promised that if Democrats win both the House and Senate in the November midterm elections, they would "lower costs for the American people." When pressed by CBS News' Face the Nation on "how" they would do that, he said by "raising taxes."
"I have legislation with Chris Van Hollen," he said, "we've got to get Republicans on board. It raises taxes for people who make over a million dollars a year in income and it provides tax cuts for people, individuals, and even couples who make up to $160,000 a year."
I'm not the only American who looks at taxes of any kind with increased suspicion as all of this fraud has been uncovered in states across the US. Fraudsters from Kelly's own Arizona up to California and into Washington state, then across into Minnesota, New York, and likely many, many others have been bilking American taxpayers who believed that they were funding social programs for people in need.
Instead, hard-earned dollars have been siphoned from taxpayers and put into the hands of people who use government programs as their own personal piggy bank. There can be no new taxes on Americans at any income level until the flow of money that is being wasted, sent overseas in remittances, and squandered is stopped fully. In Medicaid, under the ACA, in housing vouchers, government-funded daycare programs, hospice care, money has been wasted to the tune of millions of dollars. But instead of tracking that down, Kelly and the Democrats want to feed more of our money into the hands of thieves.
During the interview, Kelly claimed that Trump is "kicking people off of their health care, off of Medicaid," without acknowledging that what's going on is that accounts of "people" who were fraudulently signed up by brokers seeking a commission, who didn't even know they had been signed up, who were not even eligible, have been removed. The reason those names were on the rolls isn't because they were receiving health care, but because of fraud. Before removing those names from the rolls, each account holder was contacted and it was only those who did not respond—most of them—who were taken off.
CBS News' Brennan did not ask Kelly about fraud.
Democrats have revealed other plans, too, if their midterm hopes come to pass. They want to "rein in" Trump's emergency powers and prevent a president from remodeling the White House. They want to "insulate," the Washington Post reports, the DOJ from presidential influence—something they don't care at all about under Democrat rule. House Dem Jamie Raskin of Maryland calls it a "massive reconstruction," saying "we will have to go department by department, subject by subject, and public purpose by public purpose to determine what we salvage and what we re-create."
A great place to start would be to implement safeguards in social programs to eliminate the fraud and waste that they have facilitated. But that is clearly not in the Democrats' plans.
