BREAKING: Seattle-area Somali home daycares rake in $5 MILLION of taxpayer funds in potential misuse scheme

In an investigation into Somali-run daycares in Seattle by The Post Millennial's Katie Daviscourt, several daycares appeared to be misusing taxpayer funds and grants. 

In one instance, Daisy Family Childcare, which appeared to be a modern mansion, has brought in nearly $2 million of taxpayer dollars and was bringing $70,000 a month. But during the middle of the day, there did not appear to be any kids at the supposed daycare center. 

Aboo Family Daycare in Seattle also came under scrutiny in the video. A neighbor said that he has known for years that the daycare was a scam. Aboo Family Daycare in Seattle has been getting $40,000 a month in taxpayer funding, according to public records. 

When Daviscourt approached Hormuud Home Family Daycare, two women were outside and were frustrated that they were being asked questions about whether Daviscourt could enroll a child or not.   

Hormuud Family Daycare is in what Daviscourt referred to as "Little Mogadishu" in South Seattle. A screengrab showed that on a map of the area, there were over a dozen daycares up and down the region of the city. 



In the same area was "Star Family Home Daycare." Someone who appeared to be at the address was confronted by Daviscourt, but refused to answer questions. When asked if the building was a daycare, she said, "I don't care, I'm not going to answer." 

Star Family Daycare has been getting $30,000 a month in taxpayer funding. 

After traveling to another registered daycare, a man came out of the building to confront Daviscourt. He first asked if they were "Trump people" and then said that she and the cameraman were "haters" and told them to "get out of here." 

A neighbor said that there were "so many" daycares in the area, but that those running the supposed businesses are just doing it for their "family."

In total, Daviscourt reported that in just two neighborhoods there were over $5 million in potential abuses of taxpayer funds, and they had gone to over 20 locations reporting to be daycare locations. Under Seattle's Child Care Assistance Program, daycares can request government funding in order to back their businesses when they are caring for low-to-middle-income families.
