An eight-year-old boy was found dead near a trailhead in the Las Vegas area on Friday morning by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

An Amber Alert has been issued for his brother, who remains missing.

The deceased child was last seen in the company of his biological father, who allegedly was on his way to pick up his half-brother, the now-missing child.

According to local outlet Fox 5 Las Vegas, the missing child's name is Eden Montes. The father's name is Jose Montes-Herrera.

The boy's photo is reproduced in the article with the hopes that someone who is reading the report may have spotted him recently.

The Amber Alert for Montes is active in Nevada and several other states as it is believed that the pair may be on the move. This is an ongoing investigation. Anybody with any information that may lead to the apprehension of Montes-Herrera is asked to call 702 828 3521 or 702 828 2907.
