Comedian Ricky Gervias received high praise for his new Netflix special "Ricky Gervais: SuperNature," from Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday.

Musk posted on Twitter "@NetflixIsAJoke @rickygervais Great show!"

In the special, which premiered on the streaming platform on Tuesday, Gervais took aim at transgender people, and those that label concerned women as "TERFs."

TERF, or Trans-exclusionary Radical Feminist, has been a title given to those who reject the idea that transgender women are women, a title that has been given to those such as author JK Rowling.

"Oh, women!" Gervais said. "Not all women, I mean the old-fashioned ones. The old-fashioned women, the ones with wombs. Those f***ing dinosaurs."

"I love the new women. They’re great, aren’t they? The new ones we’ve been seeing lately. The ones with beards and c*cks. They’re as good as gold, I love them," he added.

Gervais continued on to have a conversation with himself, playing both the role of those on the left who defend the usage of bathrooms by people who identify as a gender different than their biological one, and the role of concerned women, who have expressed their concerns with biological men being allowed in women’s spaces, like bathrooms.

In another segment, Gervais discussed actor and comedian Kevin Hart withdrawing from hosting the Oscars in 2018 after previous tweets surfaced that were deemed homophobic.

"You can’t predict what will be offensive in the future," Gervais said. "You don’t know who the dominant mob will be. Like, the worst thing you can say today, get you cancelled on Twitter, death threats, the worst thing you can say today is, ‘Women don’t have penises,’ right? Now, no one saw that coming. You won’t find a ten-year-old tweet of someone saying, ‘Women don’t have penises.’ You know why? We didn’t think we f***ing had to!"

According to Variety, the special garnered criticism on social media, with some posting on Twitter that they have canceled their Netflix subscription.

In response to Gervais’ special and the backlash, transgender YouTuber and political commentator Blaire White wrote on Twitter that "He is not transphobic. He is bullshitphobic."

The new special comes around seven months since Dave Chappelle’s special "The Closer" premiered on the platform, where his jokes regarding transgender people resulted in widespread opposition, and LGBTQ Netflix employees walking out.

In the months since, Netflix has stood by the special, stating in a recent memo that employees may have to work on material that they do not ideologically agree with, and if they have an issue with that, they should seek employment elsewhere.

"As employees we support the principle that Netflix offers a diversity of stories, even if we find some titles counter to our own personal values," the memo stated. "Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful… if you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you."
