Elon Musk is making a major return to Republican politics, reviving his powerful America PAC to help boost GOP turnout ahead of this year's critical midterm elections.
According to Axios, the billionaire entrepreneur is relaunching the super PAC that spent more than $260 million helping elect President Donald Trump in 2024, making Musk the largest individual political donor in a single election cycle in U.S. history. America PAC will focus on door-knocking, digital advertising and direct mail campaigns designed to energize conservative voters, particularly those who are less likely to vote in a midterm election.
While Musk's representatives declined to disclose how much he intends to spend this cycle, the investment is expected to be substantial given the scale of his previous political donations. Trump's senior political adviser James Blair welcomed the move, calling America PAC an essential part of the Republican ground game. "America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country," Blair told Axios. "We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day."
Republican committees and aligned super PACs currently hold a fundraising advantage of more than $300 million over Democratic groups, not including the roughly $400 million held by Trump's MAGA Inc. super PAC. Behind the scenes, Musk has reportedly been in discussions with members of President Trump's political team about how America PAC can best support Republican candidates. The organization is expected to coordinate its turnout operation with other GOP groups.
Musk's renewed involvement marks a significant turnaround after a public falling out with President Trump following his four-month stint leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). At the time, Musk sharply criticized the administration's spending legislation and briefly floated the idea of launching a third political party. The fundraising effort will once again be led by Musk's longtime political adviser, Chris Young.
