Batya Ungar-Sargon was there to straighten Bill Maher out in real time.
But many on the lunatic left didn't even get that far, and now taken in by the same fallacy, is Bill Maher. Batya Ungar-Sargon was there to straighten him out. On X, many more jumped in to show Maher the error of his ways. Elon Musk, Tim Pool, Richard Baris, and others made clear to Maher that yes, he missed the joke.
Maher brought up Posobiec, saying "He's doing sort of like a roundtable discussion," he said, going on to quote Posobiec, saying "'welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it, completely. We didn't get all the way there on January 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.' Am I missing an irony here?" Maher asked.
"Am I missing a joke? Or it seems now they are saying the quiet part out loud? This is their big convention and you have a guy like this and the crowd is loving it. 'Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it'? 'January 6 was good, now we're gonna finish the job'? Thoughts?"
The audience laughed. But Ungar-Sargon pointed out the obvious.
"Bill, that was a joke about Trump making a joke about being a dictator day one in office. That was an ironic take on how the liberal media sees conservatives," she said.
"Am I missing the irony?" Maher asked.
"I think so, yes," she said. "This is a joke."
Maher quipped that Posobiec should keep his day job.
"Ironically, he missed the irony," Musk said in response to the clip from MythinformedMKE.
"Wow embarassing," Pool said.
Ironically," pollster Richard Baris noted, "@billmaher tells @JackPosobiec to 'keep your day job' insinuating it wasn't a funny joke. Now THAT'S irony. Bill is a day job comedian who falls for every media hoax each time he wades into politics. He then asks if he's missing something. Always, Bill. Always."
"Like many other self-professed liberals," Ian Miles Cheong said, "Bill Maher is blind to irony and jokes if it’s a right winger making the joke. They just can’t fathom the possibility that someone other than themselves might have a sense of humor. So ready to be offended."
Another user joked that the FBI launched an expensive investigation just to make sure it was a joke.
While another posted a meme taking Maher to task for missing the "obvious jokes."
Still Boneless quipped "This whole segment should be labeled 'missing extreme amounts of context'."
"Bill Maher was trolled and didn't realize it, this is why you second check stuff before you do this," said another.
"It's a stupid, childish game Maher has been playing for years," said another user, noting that Maher had seemingly intentionally mispronounced Posobiec's name, "he purposely mispronounces the names of people he dislikes. Examples: Posobeic and Rush Limbaugh. He'd say 'Limbow.' Who knows why..."
How are the Dems doing it?
"Number one, we will begin with ending paper ballots and ending Election Day," Posobiec said at CPAC, breaking it down. "We will remove all voter ID and all citizenship requirements for voting, we will replace in-person voting with low integrity mail and options and dropboxes. We are going to place state assets in all mainstream media, we are going to censor social media, we're going to lock up protesters if anyone has a problem with it. We're going to lock up and remove opposition parties and opposition candidates from the ballot. We're going to arrest the opposition leader four times, we'll flood the nation with millions of invaders who vote the way we want release violent criminals into the cities, disarm the populace, remove religion from the public square lock up bloggers who published government documents called WikiLeaks. We're going to steal Catherine Herridge's confidential source documents. I'm going to do it all and you can't stop me, folks."
