EXCLUSIVE: GOP Christian military vet Jack Whitfield launches campaign for Kentucky Sec of State

GOP candidate Jack Whitfield, a former Army infantry officer and Ranger School graduate, is jumping into the race to be the next Secretary of State for Kentucky. Whitfield announced his campaign Tuesday and is seeking the GOP nomination for the 2027 primary election to take the role currently held by Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams, who is limited by terms.

"I raised my hand and swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution — first as a soldier, and again as an attorney. That oath didn’t expire when I took the uniform off," Whitfield told The Post Millennial.

"My family has called Kentucky home for eight generations," he said. "I’ve watched the people of this Commonwealth work hard, raise their families, and ask for very little in return except that their government be honest with them. Continuing to serve them is the most natural thing in the world to me.”

"Kentuckians deserve elections they can trust and a Secretary of State who answers to them," Whitfield said, "not to Frankfort insiders or Washington bureaucrats. I’m running to make sure every legal vote counts, every voter is who they say they are – something President Trump is committed to, and every small business owner can register a company without fighting through months of red tape. I served in combat zones. I’m not afraid of a hard job or a tough fight.”

Whitfield is the son-in-law of Rep. Barry Moore. Following his military service, he earned his JD from Georgetown University Law School in 2024 and then clerked for the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

Some of Whitfield's policy initiatives include securing Kentucky's elections and making the state more business friendly by reducing red tape.

Whitfield, who is a fellow of the Club for Growth Foundation, describes himself as a "constituational conservative with a strong desire to serve the state that he loves."

His plan to secure Kentucky's elections includes advocating for policies similar to the SAVE America Act, which would require voters to prove US citizenship to register to vote. He is also in favor of stronger safeguards for absentee voting. He stands with Trump's efforts to ensure voter rolls are accurate and wants to appoint an election integrity coordinator that will be tasked with investigating credible election fraud allegations.  

The main responsibilities for the Kentucky Secretary of State include overseeing elections as well as operating as the chief business official in the state. Although the role does not oversee legislation, Whitfield adds on his campaign site that he is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, wants to protect women's sports, protect the border, and wants a smaller government with fewer taxes.
