California Governor Gavin Newsom's Thanksgiving Day message backfired on Thursday when many claimed his recent $9.1 million mansion purchase showed he was out of touch with everyday Golden Staters. Newsom is moving his family into the new mansion while keeping the old $3.7 million mansion in Fair Oaks as well.

Newsom as well as his wife, Jennifer made the multi-million-dollar purchase of the new home in Kentfield, Martin County California earlier this week before he released what some have slammed as a fake message of humility.

Newsom posted the video message with his wife, with the caption, "This Thanksgiving, we give thanks to Californians across the state who make us strong, resilient, and united. Wishing everyone a joyful holiday filled with love, good food, and connection."

Newsom relocated his family from the capital of the state to one of the wealthiest portions of California, per the Daily Mail. In the video, however, Newsom appeared to play humble for the holiday message. This did not sit well with constituents.

When Jennifer mentioned that the holiday is meant to be for those things that everyone is thankful for, the governor said, "For Jen and I, that's our kids and our extended family and friends. But we're also grateful for all of you, California. For all that this state is and all that it stands for." Many slammed the governor for the message when he and his family are living larger than ever.

One user said, "Happy Thanksgiving! How’s the weather over there in the $9 million mansion? Will you be offering tours?"

"As you destroy the finances of the State of California," another person wrote. "How’s slumming in your $9.1 million mansion? Where did the $ come from? You have no business or accounting sensibilities so was it the Cartels? The Getty’s? Money laundering from the $24 billion in missing homeless funds?"

One apparent former Californian who moved out of the left-wing stronghold posted, "I am celebrating Thanksgiving with 16 other family members who escaped California in the past 5 years. We all moved to Red States. From South Carolina to Tennessee and Florida. None of us miss your tyrannical state."

Some have questioned how Newsom has been able to purchase a mansion worth $9.1 million when his governor's salary offers $200,000 a year, a good wage, but meager in comparison to what would be needed annually to pay over $9 million for a mansion. The home was reported to be the fifth most expensive home that sold in Marin County in the last 25 years. The downpayment alone on such a property would have been exhorbitant.
