Wisconsin police are searching for Morgan Geyser, one of the two girls convicted in the 2014 “Slender Man” stabbing, after she removed her state-issued monitoring bracelet and walked away from a group home in Madison on Saturday night.

Authorities said Geyser, now 23, was seen around 8 pm on the city’s west side with an adult she knows. Police said early Sunday that “her whereabouts are unknown” and asked the public to report any sightings, reports CNN.

Geyser and Anissa Weier were both 12 when they lured a classmate into a Waukesha park and stabbed her 19 times in an attack they said was meant to gain approval from the fictional online character Slender Man. The victim survived after crawling to a nearby path, where a bicyclist found her.

Geyser later pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and was ordered to a state mental health facility instead of prison. She spent nearly seven years at Winnebago Mental Health Institute before a judge approved her conditional release earlier this year.

Officials had struggled to find a placement for her. A facility in Sun Prairie backed out in August after public pushback, and Geyser was eventually moved into a Madison group home, which police say is located on the same street where she was last seen Saturday.

Police have not released details on who she was with or whether she is considered dangerous. The Department of Corrections is assisting with the search. The case remains active.
