On Sunday, a shooting at a mall outside Indianapolis took the lives of four people, including the gunman, Jonathan Sapirman, whose shooting spree was cut short by a good guy with a gun.

In the days since, it has been revealed that the good guy with a gun, 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken, neutralized the suspect in just fifteen seconds, according to Fox News.

"The time lapse between the moment that Jonathan Sapirman exited the restroom and began shooting, and when he was shot by the civilian was only fifteen seconds," Greenwood Police Chief James Ison said in a statement on Tuesday. "The surveillance video shows Sapirman exit the restroom at 5:56:48pm. He was neutralized by Dicken at 5:57:03 pm."

According to Fox News, police previously stated that two minutes had elapsed before Dicken shot Sapirman, who was found to be carrying two rifles, a Glock pistol, and at least 100 rounds of ammunition.

Ison called Dicken's actions "heroic" and praised the good samaritan's tactical abilities, which came without any prior military or police training.

"Many more people would have died last night if not for a responsible armed citizen who took action within the first two minutes of this shooting," Ison added.

According to authorities, Dicken fired ten shots, eight of which struck Sapirman, killing him on the spot.

Following the incident, Dicken was heralded as a hero by most, however some anti-gun activists took to social media to criticize the situation that led to him having to use his weapon.

Founder of anti-gun organization Mom's Demand, Shannon Watts, for example, wrote on Twitter, "Sadly, the takeaway by most Indiana Republicans from this senseless, preventable shooting tragedy in Greenwood won’t be that we should do more to keep assault weapons away from mass shooters and out of the mall, but that we should arm more shoppers."
