Much like Chris Cuomo, Andrew played the “family comes first” card when responding to his critics.

This Monday, the New York Post grilled New York Governor Andrew Cuomo over the revelation that his CNN brother was on consulting calls with both Andrew and Andrew’s team, discussing how to deal with the fallout surrounding a series of sexual harassment allegations from past employees.

“I had conversations with my brother. I always have conversations with my brother because he’s my brother and he’s my best friend,” Andrew Cuomo responded.

He stressed a talking point made by the CNN management as well, when they responded to the story. “He was not covering the story. He had recused himself from the story.”

Andrew Cuomo voluntarily added that he talks “to journalists about situations all the time and they tell me their thoughts and their advice.”

It was back on Friday that the Washington Post released a scoop about CNN’s Chris Cuomo being on advisory strategy calls with his brother Andrew. The fact Chris’s brother is the Governor of New York embroiled in a sexual harassment investigation, along with Chris being a prominent news anchor, made the news people in themselves newsworthy.

Chris was there with the Governor’s top aides, lawyers, advisers, and communication team. He was reportedly adamant that Andrew didn’t resign from his office, using “cancel culture” as the justification as to why he should stand his ground.

In response CNN admitted “it was inappropriate [for Chris Cuomo] to engage in conversations that included members of the Governor’s staff.”
