Amy D. Best has just been charged with stealing gifts intended for her own grandchildren from under the family Christmas tree.

The alleged incident occurred in Scott County, Tennessee, where detectives matched a Nintendo Switch that had been pawned by Best to one reported stolen by her own family.

Best is now charged with theft under $1000 and is being held at the local jail, according to local outlet 10 News.

The Switch was intended for Best's grandchild, and was already wrapped up and waiting under the tree.

There is no word on what Best did with the money, and police are investigating to try and find out if the same thing happened to other gifts that the family also reported as missing from under the very same tree.

Aside from the recovered Switch, the other stolen gifts are still missing.

"It's a sad day and time to see charges like this at such a special time of the year for special people, including children. We won't stand for it," local Sheriff Ronnie Phillips was quoted as saying.
