Police in Hamilton, Ontario are investigating a breaking and entering which took place in the city's downtown on Sunday, during which several firearms were stolen from a residence.
"On the evening of Sunday, January 17, 2021, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., suspects entered a residence in the area of Victoria Avenue North and Wilson Street East," the police wrote in a press release. "Once inside, several handguns and ammunition were located and taken from the residence."
Police do not know how many potential suspects were involved in the theft, but according to their press release, it was likely more than one. They are also unsure how many firearms were stolen from the residence.
Gun crime have been on the rise in Hamilton in recent years, as it has been in other southern Ontario cities such as Toronto.
Police are asking residents of the area to check their security cameras for suspicious activity.
