In the wake of the tragic murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has placed blame on former President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans despite requesting others not “politicize” her death.

"When the former President decided that he didn't want Biden to have a lid on immigration, he told his party to pull out of that agreement. So, blaming things on the current immigration policy is absolutely political, and it really breaks my heart that people would politicize the sadness of that tragedy," Hidalgo stated.

Hidalgo also emphasized that “evil happens regardless of immigration status” and urged others not to politicize Nungaray's death, essentially arguing against using the tragedy as a basis for enforcing stricter immigration laws.

In response to the judge’s comments, a Fox 26 reporter challenged the clear hypocrisy between blaming Republicans while urging others not to politicize the incident.

“All due respect, judge, you said this issue shouldn’t be politicized but by pointing the finger at former president Trump and Republicans in Congress, aren’t you politicizing it?” the reporter asked.

"I think I answered the question," answered Hidalgo. "Again, the Biden administration reached an agreement with leader McConnell to address this. This is not about immigration. I'm not going to feed into that," she continued.

Nungaray, a 12-year-old Texas girl, was allegedly murdered by two illegal immigrants from Venezuela. Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel, 21, and Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, 26, are accused of luring Nungaray under a bridge, tying her up, removing her pants, and strangling her to death before dumping her body in a bayou.

Both men have been arrested on capital murder charges and are being held in custody on a $10 million bond.
