A 65-year-old Florida woman is dead after she was stabbed to death in a Barnes & Noble. A suspect is in custody and a motive is not yet known.

The killing occurred in Palm Beach Gardens. Officers found Rita B. Loncharich, 65, suffering from stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital by first responders but did not survive.

Witnesses at the Barnes & Noble told officers that the suspect stabbed Loncharich and then fled. That suspect was later arrested and identified as Antonio R. Moore. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond. Moore is reportedly a homeless man from Alabama. He suffers from mental illness and had been living in the woods, according to Loncharich's husband.

"This investigation is active and ongoing," said the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department. "Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for this attack."

Moments after she was stabbed, Londarich called her husband to tell him what had happened. Moore is expected in court on Wednesday.

"It's terrible that anybody can't walk into a regular store without being fearful of being stabbed," said a customer speaking to CBS12.

"For violence to occur somewhere like that, for someone to lose their life there, it's shocking," said another customer.

It's not shocking at all. We just had a mentally disturbed man gouge a woman's eye out for the crime of standing at a Seattle intersection to wait for the light to change so she could cross the street. If our "fearless leaders" refuse to build asylums with technological oversight to imprison violent mentally ill criminals and judges refuse to put those same offenders in prison, where do we believe they'll end up? Unfortunately, the answer is on the streets with you, your loved ones and your children. It's time we make asylums great again.
