Sunday's NFL game between Tampa Bay and Green Bay saw two of the announcers caught getting very political and critical on a mic they didn't know was active.
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, the announcers in question, were talking about a military flyover that occurred in the stadium, criticizing it. The conversation went as follows:
Aikman: That’s a lot of jet fuel just to do a little flyover.”
Buck: “That’s your hard-earned money and your tax dollars at work.”
Aikman: “That stuff ain’t happening with [a] Kamala-Biden ticket, I’ll tell you that right now, partner.”
The military flyover, which happened just after the national anthem, featured four A-10 aircraft. According to a United States Air Force spokesperson, military flyovers don't raise costs for taxpayers since they have been incorporated into regular training missions, and the planes are already in the air for those purposes.
The USAF also considers the flyovers to be useful for recruitment purposes.
“Flyovers are a way for the US Air Force to showcase the capabilities of our aircraft while at the same time inspire a future generation. We are increasing the number of events eligible for support to assist with recruiting efforts and in telling the Air Force story,” said Jennifer Bentley, the USAF
“Up to four aircraft at a time will be allowed to participate in each flyover, and the Air Force has abolished limits on the number of aircraft and equipment displays that it can set up on the ground, according to the new rules,” continued Bentley.
