Hotel cancels TPUSA Charlie Kirk event in Oregon after violent threats from Antifa and far-left activists—new venue secured

"After careful consideration, we have made the decision to not allow tonight's event to proceed at our hotel. We apologize for the short notice, and are making this decision out of an abundance of caution for the safety and security of our staff and guests."

An event venue in Oregon cancelled its hosting of the Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk Tour on Wednesday after receiving alleged violent threats from Antifa and far-left activists. Charlie Kirk's Critical Racism Tour was set to take-off Wednesday night but the Holiday Inn Express Eugene Springfield sent the organization an email in the morning stating they were cancelling the reservation.

"After careful consideration, we have made the decision to not allow tonight's event to proceed at our hotel. We apologize for the short notice, and are making this decision out of an abundance of caution for the safety and security of our staff and guests," Vice President of Operations Terry Goldman said in an email.

"The event has garnered a great deal of attention from multiple organizations and we unfortunately we do not have the level of staffing available to ensure a secure event," Goldman continued in the email announcement.

According to Turning Point USA, this is the fifth venue in Oregon to cancel hosting Charlie Kirk over the last few weeks: two churches, one event center, and now two hotels.

Last month, a hotel near the University of Oregon cancelled the event after Turning Point USA's promotional materials allegedly resulted in Graduate Hotel getting threatened with violence.

In a letter sent to TPUSA, Graduate Hotel said that following the organizations advertisements and promotional materials, "the Hotel has received various communications indicating that the Event will cause damage or disruption to the Hotel's premises, operation, guests, or reputation."

"The irony is that as Charlie Kirk trends on Twitter for denouncing political violence, Antifa has been threatening violence against event staff at venues that attempt to host TPUSA’s campus tour stops. 5 different venues have now cancelled as a result of Antifa’s coordinated campaign of violent harassment, including the most recent cancellation on the day of the event in Eugene, Oregon. So while Democrats attempt to criminalize mainstream conservative ideas and personalities who denounce violence, they empower actual violent extremist in their midst by failing to renounce groups like Antifa. The double standard is shameful and it’s tearing the country apart," said Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet.

This is not the first time Antifa militants and far-left activists threatened violence towards TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk and his supporters.

Earlier this year in April, Motion Church in Puyallup, Washington, cancelled Kirk's speaking engagement, after the anarchist group had threatened to create an autonomous zone around the venue and pledged to target the church leadership as well as its members with violence.

On Tuesday evening, an instigator infiltrated Charlie Kirk's Critical Racism Tour in Idaho and called for violence. Kirk immediately denounced all forms of political violence and encouraged the audience to never engage. Many in the crowd and across social media speculated that the audience member was a leftist plant.

Turning Point USA has since secured a new event venue to host Charlie Kirk this evening at Emerald Valley Golf Club.
