House Judiciary Committee exposes 'censorship industrial complex' at NBC News

On Monday, the House Judiciary Committee exposed what it referred to as the "censorship industrial complex" perpetuated by NBC News and some of the reporters who work there, namely investigative journalist Brandy Zadrozny.

Via a series of posts on X, the committee broke down how she and the network lied in their recent coverage of the subject of "disinformation" by relying on "discredited 'experts'" and how it all fits into a broader pattern of spreading "fake news."

The committee began by highlighting a recent article published by NBC News titled, "The disinformation war has taken a toll, but researchers feel a shift," noting that while it would be easier to call on social media companies or NBC to censor it, the only way to properly combat "bad speech" is with "more speech."

In her article, Zadrozny argued that "the credibility of the accusations at the heart of the committee's hearings and the lawsuits has been strained."

"The Committee's credibility comes from documents–not our words and not her false reporting," the committee countered.

She also claimed that the House Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government was "tasked with discrediting researchers."

"Wrong," the committee wrote. "We're against the censorship of all Americans." 

The committee went on to reveal that NBC News had quoted researchers from the Election Integrity Partnership without mentioning that the EIP "worked with and was created at the request of the federal government."

NBC News claimed that the EIP had simply "forwarded" their requests to big tech companies, but left out that the requests were made "in secret," a fact which was initially covered up by Stanford and uncovered by the committee.

"Why would [Zadrozny] and [NBC News] rely again on these discredited 'experts'?" the committee asked, citing their use of Clemson University's Darren Linvill, who was deemed too amateurish in his censorship tactics by the big players revealed in the Twitter Files.

"It turns out [Clemson] and [NBC News] have been partnering on spreading disinformation for years now!"

"The network once covered great historic American moments," the committee concluded, referring to NBC News. "Sadly, this is now what Americans can expect."
