Former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has joined NBC and MSNBC as an on-air contributor.

"It couldn’t be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna’s on the team," wrote Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees NBC News political coverage in a memo, according to the New York Times. She added that McDaniel would provide "an insider’s perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party."

McDaniel is expected to be involved in the coverage of the 2024 election season, including election nights. She will reportedly debut on NBC on the upcoming Sunday edition of "Meet the Press."

McDaniel announced in late February that she would be stepping down as RNC leader in early March.

"I have decided to step aside at our Spring Training on March 8 in Houston to allow our nominee to select a Chair of their choosing. The RNC has historically undergone change once we have a nominee and it has always been my intention to honor that tradition," McDaniel wrote.

"I remain committed to winning back the White House and electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November. I want to thank my husband Patrick, our children Abigail and Nash, the members of the 168 who elected me four times, President Trump for giving me the opportunity to lead our Party, as well as the RNC staff and donors who have supported me and our mission over the years."

McDaniel's resignation came as the RNC faced heavy criticism for large expenses that the committee hasd taken on, such as expensive floral arrangements and many other expenditures. In November it was revealed that the RNC dropped to a low of $9.1 million in cash on hand, the lowest in any Federal Election Commission report since February of 2015 for the committee.

Trump in February endorsed North Carolina GOP Chair Michael Whatley for the RNC’s new chair and his daughter-in-law Lara Trump for the role of RNC co-chairwoman. The two were elected into the positions in early March.
