Hunter Biden's potential money laundering and foreign ties investigated by DOJ

Delaware authorities aren't the only ones taking an interest in Hunter Biden and his immediate family, and tax issues are not the only subject at hand.

Hunter Biden released a statement on Wednesday confirming that he is currently under investigation by the US Attorney's Office in Delaware.

His statement read that authorities are investigating his "tax affairs," but the truth is that the investigation is much more serious. He said that he is "confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate" that he "handled his affairs legally and appropriately."

But the truth is that his taxes are not the only thing being investigated. The securities fraud unit of the Southern District of New York has also dug into Hunter Biden's financial dealings. These investigations were underway in 2019, and included possible money laundering and questionable ties to foreign governments, including China, due to the existence of suspicious foreign transactions.

Reporting for Politico, Ben Schreckinger wrote that "Prosecutors in the SDNY securities fraud unit also briefly probed foreign payments to Hunter Biden last year, eyeing a possible money laundering investigation, but backed down after consulting with Delaware US Attny's Office, which was well ahead of them in investigating Hunter"

"Meanwhile, as part of a federal criminal investigation in the Western District of Pennsylvania of a hospital chain linked to Joe's brother, Jimmy Biden, the FBI has been asking questions about Jimmy's dealings."

Delaware authorities aren't the only ones taking an interest in Hunter Biden and his immediate family, and tax issues are not the only subject at hand. The Tax Division at Main Justice, in Washington, DC, is also investigating potential money laundering.

In terms of his tax issues, Hunter Biden was subjected to a tax levy of $453,000 for unpaid state taxes. He apparently satisfied that assessment.

Federal authorities in Pennsylvania's Western District have launched a formal investigation of a healthcare company in which James Biden, Joe's brother and Hunter's uncle, has been involved. The investigation is ongoing at this time. In January, Americore Health was being looked into, and was subjected to an FBI raid. The hospital was known to be dysfunctional, and many boxes were removed from for review.

Hunter Biden said in his Wednesday statement, which was issued by the campaign:

"I learned yesterday for the first time that the US Attorney's office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs."

"I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,"

Joe Biden also had something to say on the matter:

"My son, my family will not be involved in any business, any enterprise that is in conflict with or appears to be in conflict, with inappropriate distance from the presidency and government."

The short statement comes after months and years of Joe Biden claiming to not have had any involvement in his son's business dealings. When the New York Post released evidence to the contrary in October 2020, and witnesses came forward to state that they had observed the opposite, the Biden Harris camp stayed silent.

Now, they have come forward with this brief statement that Hunter Biden is under investigation, and Joe Biden has backed him up. Joe Biden does not currently appear to be under investigation. Requests for comment went unanswered.

Hunter Biden's business dealings have crisscrossed the globe. He was on the board of Ukrainian energy giant Burisma, had extensive business connections in China, and several of his former business associates, such as Devon Archer, and Patrick Ho, were all convicted of crimes involving their business dealings.
