Illegal alien mom deported to Mexico after she spoke to press about her son's arrest for obstructing ICE operations

A Mexican mom who complained about her son's arrest at the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has now been deported. She and her son were living in Texas, though her son is a citizen and she is in the nation illegally. Her son, 17-year-old Luis Ochoa, was detained in Alamo, DHS said, when he was attempting to obstruct ICE's operations.

Teresa De Jesus Ochoa Briseno told local news outlet KRGV, "he's a minor; it's traumatic enough for an adult, for something like this to happen to him is really tough. It was eight hours without hearing from him," she said. "They wouldn't give me any information, they behaved very badly."

She and her son spoke to the press outside the police station in Alamo where they had filed a police report, accusing the officers, reports The Daily Mail, "of confronting him and his friend after they stopped to record the officers' operation." 

"We saw an ICE raid on a truck," Ochoa said. "We stopped to record, and when we were recording, my friend JC gets smacked by one of the agents. The woman hits him with the door, and that's when everything starts. The woman chases him back to my car." He and his friend were then arrested.

Ochoa said they arrested him "for no reason. They got on top of me saying, 'Don't resist.' I was never resisting. They broke my wrist." As to the arrest and deportation of his mother, he said that he believes it was in retaliation for his speaking out against the ICE operation on social media.

It is also possible that DHS saw the footage of Briseno speaking to press, realized she had an open deportation order, and were able to act on it because she made herself easy to find.

Briseno is now back in Mexico. She was deported on September 21. Her immigration attorney contended that it was "too big a coincidence" that she was "detained just a week after her United States citizen child was unlawfully detained and arrested."

DHS said that she was an "alien from Mexico" and had "repeatedly refused lawful commands" from officers. She had a final order of removal pending. DHS also said that the Ochoa and his friend were "anti-ICE agitators who were attempting to obstruct officers' operation."

"When officers exited the vehicle and attempted to detain him, the agitator became verbally and physically combative and resisted officers," DHS said. "Officers relied on their training to control the situation, and the agitators were placed under arrest. Deportation officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local clinic."
