Illinois voters move to strike Biden from 2024 ballot, say he is 'ineligible'

They argued that Biden had allegedly "given aid or comfort to the enemies" while he was a senator, vice president, and president.

A number of objections have been filed by voters in Illinois against Joe Biden in an attempt to keep him off the state ballot.

The move to prove that the president is "ineligible" to run in the 2024 election comes amid a wave of attempts to remove his predecessor, Donald Trump, from ballots in states across the country.

According to the State Journal-Register, three objections were filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections prior to the Jan. 12 deadline, including one by Shane Bouvet, Timothy Conrad, Terry Newsome, and former US Senate candidate Peggy Hubbard.

They argued that Biden had allegedly "given aid or comfort to the enemies" while he was a senator, vice president, and president, and was thus "ineligible" to run for the nation's highest office.

"Biden has given aid and comfort to enemies of the Constitution and the United States by, among other things, failing to enforce the laws of the United States, allowing entry of enemy agents illegally into the country including tens of thousands of military age men, and abandoning assets of the United States to the possession of our enemies," the group wrote in their filing, listing China, Iran, the Sinaloa Cartel, and MS-13 as some of his alleged benefactors.

"Our objection is to reinforce that We The People will not tolerate betrayal,” Bouvet added.

The objectors argued that the cases against Biden and Trump were different because while the latter only held one political office in which he swore an oath to "preserve, protect, and defend" the Constitution, the former had a decades-long career in positions where the oath only required him to "support" the document.

This is not the first time a Democratic candidate's position on the ballot has been challenged in Illinois. As the State Journal-Register reports, Barack Obama faced numerous objections in 2012 related to unfounded claims about his citizenship.
