Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker slammed President Joe Biden during a commencement speech at Benedictine College for making the Sign of The Cross during a campaign stop.
Butker slammed the president in a speech he gave on Saturday at the Catholic liberal arts college, per KCTV.
"Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the Sign of The Cross during a pro-abortion rally," he stated. "He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I'm sure to many people it appears to many people you can be both Catholic and pro-choice."
He added that many others behind the Covid lockdowns and other policy measures are also Catholic.
"Being Catholic alone does not cut it," he stated. "These are the sorts of things we are told in polite society to not bring up. You know, the difficult and unpleasant things."
"If we are going to be men and women for this time in history, we need to stop pretending that the 'Church of Nice' is a winning proposition. We must always speak and act in charity, but never mistake charity for cowardice," he said. He said of Catholics in general, “Make no mistake, before we even attempt to fix any of the issues plaguing society, we must first get our own house in order.”
“You are sitting at the edge of the rest of your lives,” Butker told the Class of 2024 of the Catholic university. “Each of you has the potential to leave a legacy that transcends yourselves and this era of human existence.”
Butker has been vocal about his faith as well as his pro-life stance and faith. Despite Biden’s policies on the topic, Butker wore a tie to the White House after the team won the 2024 Superbowl with the words “Vulnerari Praesidio” which means to protect the most vulnerable in Latin.
As the Daily Mail reported at the time, Butker said about the message, “So to have a tie that in Latin I thought brought attention to the unborn, because I am trying to learn more Latin, with going to the Latin mass, I picked ‘Vulnerari Praesidio’ which is to protect the most vulnerable.”
“The unborn are, to me, the greatest victims in our society. They don't have a voice, they don't necessarily look like humans, they're not very big, they can't fight for themselves,' Butker added at the time.
According to Fox News, Biden made the Sign of the Cross at a stop in Tampa, Florida in April, when Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Nikki Fried complained about the state’s abortion law.
