A social media famous physician, Doctor Mikhail Varshavski, has come under fire for abandoning his own COVID-19 safety instruction and partying maskless in Miami, the Daily Mail reports.
Pictures of Doctor Varshavski, known as "Doctor Mike" surfaced on social media of him surrounded by bikini-clad women while not wearing a mask at the beach in Miami.
Dr. Mike has been a vocal proponent of following COVID-19 safety precautions like social distancing and wearing masks on his social media platforms. He frequently posts content discussing the pandemic and its implications in society.
Many of Doctor Mike's followers have begun to criticize him for his apparent hypocrisy on Twitter and Instagram.
"This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t think someone should be opining on covid things when Dr. Mike was seeing partying maskless in Miami a week before this was posted. Seems pretty hypocritical. Shame shame," commented one Twitter user who claimed to be a medical student in their bio.
"After seeing videos of you partying in Miami last weekend, this reaction video to coronavirus of all things feels like a slap on the face. I enjoy your content but I can't bring myself to watch this until you clarify why you were seen out partying in middle of the pandemic," another Twitter user commented.
Dr. Mike has not provided a statement explaining his breech of COVID-19 guidelines since the pictures surfaced.
People Magazine named Dr. Mike the "Sexiest Doctor Alive" in 2015. His annual income through social media is estimated to be $1 million, according to the Daily Mail.
