JPMorgan Chase & Co is set to resume donations to US lawmakers that it paused in the wake of the January 6 Capitol Hill riot, but will not resume donations to Republican lawmakers that contested the results of the 2020 election, Reuters reports.

147 Republican lawmakers voted to overturn the results from the Electoral College after people broke into the Capitol to stop the certification of the Electoral College votes.

According to an internal document obtained by the outlet Friday, JPMorgan will resume giving through its Political Action Committee, but says that the freeze on donations will continue for a "handful" of those 147 lawmakers that it had previously supported.

The bank said that the freeze would remain through the 2021-2022 election cycle which includes the November midterm elections. After that time, JPMorgan said it would reevaluate whether or not to resume donations to those lawmakers.

"This was a unique and historic moment when we believe the country needed our elected officials to put aside strongly held differences and demonstrate unity," the bank wrote on the certification of Biden’s victory.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, JPMorgan’s PAC gave nearly $1 million to federal candidates and committees backing those candidates in the 2019-2020 election cycle. Of the $600,300 it gave to federal candidates, around 60% went to Republicans and the rest to Democrats.
