Margot "Myles" Lewis, the trans-identified male suspect arrested on Saturday after being found with the dead body of trans activist Liara Tsai in Lewis’s backseat, is being held in jail with females.

The Olmsted County Adult Detention Center told The Post Millennial’s Andy Ngo that Lewis "identifies as a female" and has been booked and housed with females.

According to ABC 6, Lewis has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, with and without intent. The charges were handed down by the Hennepin County Court.

Lewis, of New Liberty, Iowa, was arrested on Saturday at around 7 am after Lewis crashed into a guardrail on I-90 near Eyota, Minnesota. Authorities discovered the body of Tsai, formerly known as Thomas Omar Stavlo, in the backseat of Lewis’ vehicle wrapped in a bed sheet, blanket, futon-style mattress, and a tarp.

A deputy noted that Tsai was found with a large wound to the neck near the carotid artery. A Minneapolis police officer's report filed on Saturday classified Tsai's death as murder by a deadly weapon, such as a knife or "cutting instrument."

Following Lewis’ arrest and Tsai’s death, reports have referred to both the victim and the suspect as women, with some claiming that transphobia played a part in the killing.

A statement from the LGBTQ organization The Trevor Project highlighted "the constant news of transphobic violence around the country."

Lewis was seen in 2020 expressing support for the deadly and violent riots that spread across the country in the wake of George Floyd’s death, with one post stating that a "hard to swallow pill" was that "a week worth of protests and burning shit got more done than decades of voting for centrist Democrats ever could."

Another post stated, "When I say stuff like ACAB, this is what I mean. Thats how uniforms work. You are responsible for the crimes of your organization. All of them; thats part of the burden you take on when given power. If that’s too heavy for you, you shouldn’t have taken an oath, you shouldn’t wear the badge. Resign."

Lewis identified as a “trans girl” on now-deleted social media. Background checks show Lewis used the name Myles Gerald Lewis in the past. Among the descriptors Lewis used on social media to describe his politics are Anti-fascism, Black Lives Matter, and Anti-supremacy.

According to ABC 6, court documents stated that a small dog with a microchip registered to Tsai was found at the scene of the car crash Saturday. The dog, whose microchip was registered to Tsai’s address, as well as Tsai’s vehicle registration and other documents in the car led investigators to Tsai’s apartment, where they found a "bloody scene."

Investigators noted that Tsai’s bed was saturated with blood, and more blood was found in Tsai’s bathroom. A single steak knife was noted to be missing from the butcher block in the kitchen, and was not located in the apartment. Surveillance video from the road outside Tsai’s apartment allegedly showed Tsai’s car being driven down the street at around 4:37 am on June 22, and the driver of the vehicle was allegedly wearing the same clothing Lewis was arrested in. The dog was also visible in the front passenger seat.

Andy Ngo contributed to this report.
