The deceased officer was identified as Joseph McKinney, a four year veteran of the force.
One police officer died and two others were wounded following a shootout in Memphis, Tennessee early Friday morning.
While an 18-year-old suspect was also killed in the interaction, another 17-year-old was promptly apprehended and taken into custody and was also injured.

View on X"A total of three officers were struck by gunfire," Interim Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis said during a press conference. "Tragically, one of our officers lost his life."
She went on to identify the officer as Joseph McKinney, a four-year veteran of the force.
The 18-year-old suspect who also lost his life was not identified, though Davis explained that he had been arrested in March driving a stolen vehicle while carrying a firearm that he had illegally converted to be fully automatic.
