"For Kamala Harris’s visit to Primanti’s this afternoon they kicked out all the customers at 4 pm so they could bring in their own audience."
Mark Dodson of Collier told Fox News that he had been in the area to enjoy a Pirates baseball game. "I wanted to watch some sports and enjoy an afternoon lunch." Primanti has signature Pittsburgh-style sandwiches, with piles of sliced meats and French fries. Dodson had posted on X, "For Kamala Harris’s visit to Primanti’s this afternoon they kicked out all the customers at 4 pm so they could bring in their own audience."
Video showed supporters of Trump standing outside the diner as several white vans pulled up to the restaurant, where some supporting the GOP nominee said that the Harris campaign was "paying a fortune on actors."
Amy Smith, who lives in Moon, told Fox News that she was at Primanti Bros when the customers were asked to vacate the diner. Smith said she saw two blue Harris-Walz buses arrive, followed by a white bus without decals. Video from local ABC News affiliate WFFA showed Harris, Walz, and Doug Emhoff greeting the alleged fake patrons at the restaurant.
In contrast, local stops at restaurants have been a staple of Trump's campaign. He bought customers chicken and shakes at an Atlanta Chick-fil-A in April 2024. He has done similar campaign stops, often at fast-food restaurants, and buys meals for locals. He did so at an East Palestine, Ohio McDonald's earlier in 2023.
The comparison between Harris’ seemingly “staged” campaign stop at Primanti Bros and Trump’s previous fast-food drop-ins may become another point that the GOP can use in an increasing number of examples of Harris’ campaign seeming to be astroturfed.
