Kamala Harris calls herself the 'president' during memorial for Sheila Jackson Lee—she has not received a single vote

"Which, as a US Senator, I was proud to co-sponsor and then as presi—" Harris checked herself, realized her error, and continued "As vice president it was my honor—with the president! With the president!"

At a memorial service in Houston for recently deceased Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Vice President and presumed Democrat nominee for president Kamala Harris referred to herself as the president. Joe Biden, who dropped out of the race a few weeks ago and endorsed Harris for president, is actually still the president until January.

Harris was speaking about Lee's life in public service. Standing alongside Bill and Hillary Clinton, Harris praised Lee and her work, bringing up her own work with the late representative on a bill to create the federal holiday Juneteenth, marking the day enslaved persons in Texas realized they were free after Lincoln emancipated all enslaved persons in the US.

"Which, as a US Senator, I was proud to co-sponsor and then as presi—" Harris checked herself, realized her error, and continued "As vice president it was my honor—with the president! With the president!" She emphasized. The crowd cheered for her, for her slip, for her candidacy.

However, this slip does give pause as to what Harris believes her current role is. Did she step into the Biden's campaign late or into his office early? The media blitz behind her sudden efforts to attain the highest office in the nation without having received a single vote has been incredibly strong, but it comes at the cost of a democratic process to earn her nomination.

"It was my honor," she continued, "with our President Joe Biden to stand beside Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee as our President signed her bill into law." Lee served from Texas.

Since taking over for Biden as the presumptive Dem nominee for president, Harris has been the front face of the administration and Biden has seldom been seen. When Biden has made appearances, they are in the role of elder statesman recounting his past triumphs, attempting to secure his legacy, and not as the leader of the nation or the free world.

Harris has not sat for an interview or taken questions from press since taking over at the top of the ticket. She has spoken to sororities and demanded that Trump debate her on her terms, but has not taken questions from the people's representatives in the press.
