During a recent interview on NBC's Meet the Press, Rep. Kevin McCarthy warned that terrorist sleeper cells could already have been formed in the United States by those entering the county illegally thanks to President Biden's open border policy.

While he acknowledged that it was important to continue providing aid to Ukraine and Israel, the recently ousted House Speaker urged the government to pay more attention to the crisis at its own southern border, and the impact it has had, and will have, on American citizens.

"What's the chaos right now? A wide open southern border," McCarthy said. "I'm concerned about a [terrorist] cell sitting inside American today."

He went on to highlight the fact that 18 people on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's terror watch list were apprehended by Customer and Border Patrol agents trying to make the crossing in September alone, bringing the annual total to over 150.

The numbers recorded over the past fiscal year have been unprecedented, with more terrorists attempting to cross the southern border in FY2023 than the past six fiscal years combined.

"When we're looking around the Middle East and the uprisings popping up around Europe and others," McCarthy added. "There could be sleeper cells right here in America, but this administration has done nothing to change what's happening on the southern border."

"Israel should have their money right now; they are at the brink of war," he continued. "There are more Americans dying on our southern border than there are in Ukraine; Ukraine has $9 billion right now."

McCarthy lamented the fact that without a Speaker, none of the aid to Israel, Ukraine, or the southern border could be delivered, and urged the House to end the "embarassing" spectacle and vote a new one in.

He added that if the small group of Republicans hadn't sided with Rep. Matt Gaetz to oust him from his position, he "would’ve made sure ... that we don't have any sleeper cells here, that we would actually stop these terrorists coming across our own border."
