Liberal Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains said that the country needs to hear from Jody Wilson-Raybould herself.

Standing by the Prime Minister's position and his party's innocence, Bains nonetheless questioned the reason behind the former Justice Minister's silence.

Since the SNC-Lavalin political interference allegations broke, the former Attorney General has cited her solicitor-client privilege as the reason behind her silence on the issue.

Technically, Wilson-Raybould's solicitor-client privilege could be waved if the Prime Minister decided to do so.

“I think right now the challenge is that we need to hear from the attorney general herself. I can’t speak on her behalf,” said Bains.

"We’re being as transparent and open and accountable to Canadians as much as possible under the circumstances because we cannot, or I cannot speak on behalf of Jody Wilson-Raybould.”

The Liberal-led Justice Committee has recently opened an investigation into the SNC-Lavalin allegations but have curiously excluded several main players from the witness list including Gerald Butts and Jody Wilson-Raybould herself.
