GOP House members have warned that the Biden-Harris Department of Justice and US Attorney General will be held accountable if the agency delays the release of the DOJ Inspector General's January 6 report that covers the response of the DOJ and its agencies, including the FBI.

The letter from Thomas Massie, signed by House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan and other GOP members stated, "During your testimony before our Committee on June 4, 2024, Chairman Massie asked you a series of questions about Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s forthcoming report on the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) and its components’ actions before, during, and in response to the events that occurred at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021."

The other GOP congressmen who also joined on the letter were Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Ben Cline (R-VA), Victoria Spartz (R-IN), Barry Moore (R-AL), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Dan Bishop (R-NC), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Harriet Hagman (R-WY).

On Sept 25, Horowitz testified before the House Weaponization Committee, but could not deny that there were FBI agents in the crowd on January 6 during the Capitol riot. Horowitz also testifired at the time that the report regarding January 6 that detailed how many FBI agents there were in the crowd was "in draft form and pending classification review with the" DOJ.

"I’m not in a position to say that, both because it is in draft form, and we have not gone through the classification review," Horowitz said at the time when asked by Massie how many FBI informants were at the Capitol that day.

The letter from Massie further added, "We expect that neither you nor anyone at DOJ will prevent Inspector General Horowitz from releasing this report in his preferred manner and on his preferred timeline. As you stated on June 24, you cannot 'stop [Inspector General Horowitz] from doing what the law requires.'"

GOP House members signed off, reminding Garland, "If you or any of your subordinates, associates, deputies, or agents within the Department act to delay or interfere with the release of this report, Congress will hold you accountable. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter."
