"Do we have any men masquerading as women playing in any of our teams and hurting any of the women?" he asked.

Nevada Board of Regents member Patrick Boylan is facing calls to resign from his position at the agency responsible for overseeing the Nevada System of Higher Education after comments he made regarding trans-identifying athletes drew the ire of many on the left.

During an NSHE meeting on March 1, Boylan referred to trans-identifying biological males taking part in women's sports as "men masquerading as women." Boyles said he would not resign.

As the Daily Mail reports, while a number of athletic directors were presenting to the board, Boylan declared that had "one simple question."

"Do we have any men masquerading as women playing in any of our teams and hurting any of the women?" he asked.

Before anyone could answer, board attorney Michael Wixom noted that it would be against the law to disclose such information, and urged others not to engage. They abided by his request, and Boylan never got an answer.

When pressed on his comment by the president of the Nevada State Student Alliance, Kevin Osorio-Hernandez, Boylan doubled down, reminding him that his words were protected by the first amendment.

The regent then went on to declare, "If [a male athlete] has not had his 'you know what' cut off or anything, he's still a man."

Following his remarks, the Nevada Faculty Alliance called on him to step down.

"We are deeply angered by repeated anti-transgender comments made by Regent Patrick Boylan," the group said in a statement. "These are not isolated incidents. Regent Boylan has a history of racist and discriminatory remarks that have been condemned by a number of NSHE students, including the Senate of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada."

"Because Regent Boylan’s comments have directly attacked thousands of members of the NSHE community and are in direct violation of the Regents' own anti-discrimination resolution," the statement continued, "the State Board of the Nevada Faculty Alliance calls for his immediate resignation."

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Boylan suggested that the NFA "totally misconstrued what I was trying to get at." When asked whether he would resign, he said, "of course not," adding that he had received a number of supportive calls from Nevadans "tired of all this woke nonsense."
