On Friday, 45-year-old Milton Guallpa-Guaman was arrested in Paramus, New Jersey, for allegedly abusing two children under the age of 13.

In a press release, the Bergen County Prosecutor's office said that they were contacted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency on Wednesday "regarding the alleged abuse of a juvenile that occurred in the past."

"An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Rochelle Park Police Department revealed that Milton Guallpa-Guaman physically abused a child under the age of 13 in Rochelle Park, NJ," the statement said. "During the course of the investigation, detectives learned of a disclosure made by an additional juvenile alleging sexual assaults that had occurred in the past."

The statement said that after further investigation, Guallpa-Guaman was found to have sexually assaulted another child under the age of 13 "on numerous occasions."

Guallpa-Guaman was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and remains in the Bergen County Jail without bail

According to US News, New Jersey ranks as the fifth least dangerous state in the country. An analysis of FBI data from a law firm in New York was consistent with these estimates.

According to a new report done independently from the federal agency, it was found that the FBI underreported violent criminal activity in 2023. Less than 63 percent of across 65 percent of the population did not submit crime data.
