NEW: Rep Harriet Hageman to run for US Senate in Wyoming

Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) has launched her bid for Senate in 2026 and will not be running for re-election in the House of Representatives. She announced her run for retiring Senator Cynthia Lummis’ seat on Tuesday.

In a launch video announcing the Senate bid, "President Trump’s America First movement made it popular to say you want to Make America Great Again, and he continues to deliver on that promise," Hageman said in launch video announcing her candidacy. "It would be a great honor to keep advancing the America First agenda in the Senate, as it has been in the House."

The video, in which she talks about the history of Wyoming her mother was able to grow up in, went over her various political wins over the years. 
 

“This fight is about making sure the next century sees the advancements of the last, while protecting our culture and our way of life,” Hageman said. “We must dedicate ourselves to ensuring that the next 100 years is the next great American century.”

Lummis announced last week that she would not be seeking re-election for her Wyoming Senate seat. “Deciding not to run for reelection does represent a change of heart for me, but in the difficult, exhausting session weeks this fall I’ve come to accept that I do not have six more years in me,” Lummis said in a statement.

“I am a devout legislator, but I feel like a sprinter in a marathon. The energy required doesn’t match up.”

With Hageman leaving the House for a Senate run, it will leave her seat open for someone else to fill. Hageman was re-elected during the 2024 election by nearly 48 points and Trump carried the state. Hageman was able to unseat Liz Cheney in 2022.
