Update: The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News that Ronald Lee Syvrud was taken into custody at 2:30 pm local time without incident. Charges against Syvrud are pending.

While speaking at the border on the Biden-Harris administration’s failed border policies Thursday afternoon, Donald Trump said that he was unaware of reports that a manhunt was underway in the same area for a man who threatened to kill him.

A reporter asked Trump whether he had heard of the manhunt in Cochise County, the same county where Trump was speaking, before arriving in the area, to which Trump said no.

"I haven't heard about that. They probably want to keep it from me," Trump added. "Thank you very much for saying."

He said he has "great respect" for the Secret Service, despite "mistakes" that were made at the Butler, PA rally that saw 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks attempt to assassinate Trump. Trump said that he was "not that surprised, and the reason is because I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys.

Sheriff Mark Daniels of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said that Ronald Lee Syrvud has several outstanding warrants for his arrest, including for a DUI in Wisconsin and a hit-and-run in Arizona, and Syrvud is also being sought for failing to register as a sex offender. Syrvud is described as being 6 feet tall and 220 pounds with white hair and green eyes and wears glasses. He is 66 years old and his last known address was in Benson.

"Public Safety consideration: Syvrud is being sought as an investigative lead for threats to kill a presidential candidate," Daniels wrote.
