Media personality Tucker Carlson will be speaking at the Republican National Convention on Monday.
According to the Iowa Capital Dispatch, Carlson will be speaking on Monday for the event along with former Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz and others. It has been rumored that Donald Trump will announce who he's chosen as his running mate by Monday, and that the VP candidate is scheduled to speak on Tuesday. Speculation about the VP pick has centered around North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum as well as Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and others.
Carlson graduated from Trinity College in 1991 and then started a career in journalism. He worked his way through the ranks and eventually landed his broadcast show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, at Fox News in 2016. After parting with the company in 2023, he founded his own outlet, known as the Tucker Carslon Network.
The RNC will last from July 15-18 next week and is expected to nominate Trump as the nominee ahead of the general election in November. The Republican National Committee has already adopted a Trump-backed Republican Party platform ahead of the event. The platform includes issues such as border security for the country, energy independence, and tax cuts for everyday workers.
The platform centers around what the GOP called, "Common sense" policy measures for the country. "We will be a Nation based on Truth, Justice, and Common Sense. Common Sense tells us clearly, in President Trump’s words, that 'If we don’t have a Border, we don’t have a Country.' Restoring sensible Border Security and Immigration Policy requires many steps, all of which would have been and indeed were taken for granted by prior Generations as obviously necessary and good," the document states.
