A new bill that was introduced in the Virginia House of Delegates would set limits on how January 6 can be discussed in the classroom at public schools.

House Bill 333, which was introduced by Del. Dan Helmer, D-Fairfax, would have school boards give instruction on how to talk about J6 in the classroom, but there are specific requirements for any classroom discussions.

The bill requires that the event be characterized as an "unprecedented, violent attack on United States democratic institutions, infrastructure, and representatives for the purpose of overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election," according to the bill text.

The bill also outlines that those in the classroom can "not state, suggest, or present as credible a statement or suggestion that there was extensive election fraud that could have changed or actually changed the results of the 2020 presidential election."

Additionally, those giving instruction about the events can "not describe, portray, or present as credible a description or portrayal of the actions precipitating or involved in the events of the January 6, 2021, insurrection as peaceful protest."

The bill only applies to schools if they decide to teach or have materials related to J6 in the classroom. The move comes as there have been some questions related to some people who have been prosecuted for participating in the protests but did not engage in violence.

The bill also comes as the White House has released a page dedicated to January 6, which places the blame for the events that occurred on Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, who "repeatedly acknowledging responsibility for the catastrophic security failures—admitting 'We have totally failed' and 'I take full responsibility' for not having the National Guard pre-deployed," the page alleged.
