Americans under Biden hitting record-high depression levels

A new review conducted by Gallup has revealed that depression rates in the United States are the highest they've ever been, with women and young people being most likely to suffer from the often debilitating condition.
The review, which analyzed data gathered between 2015 and 2023, showed that rates of depression among Americans increased substantially after Joe Biden was elected president in 2020 and continued on an upward trend in the years since.

To gather the data, Gallup asked Americans, "Has a doctor or nurse ever told you that you have depression?" and "Do you currently have or are you currently being treated for depression?"
The results showed that in 2015 10.5 percent of Americans said they currently had depression, with 19.6 percent saying they'd had it at some point in their life.
Throughout the Trump era, those numbers remained rather steady, only rising by 3.3 and 3.2 percent, respectively.
In 2020, however, there was a rather abrupt spike, and by the end of that year nearly 15 percent of Americans said they currently had depression, with 28.6 percent saying they'd suffered from it at some point.
Throughout the Biden presidency, the numbers continued on an upward trend, and during the last collection period, February 2023, the rates were 17.8 and 29 percent, respectively.
While Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdown measures took a toll on people's mental health, that does not account for the almost two percent uptick in rates of depression shown to have occurred between 2022 and 2023, when the pandemic was a distant memory for most.
Many have accused the Biden administration of putting the country on the wrong path, economically, culturally, and politically. Under his leadership, the price of just about everything has gone up, with everyday Americans feeling the crunch.
Research shows that financial stressors can negatively impact one's mental health, and with more Americans being hit hard by Biden's economic policies, it's no wonder that rates of depression are going up.
