Andrew Gillum, former gubernatorial candidate for the state of Florida, was involved in a criminal incident involving crystal meth last night, according to documents obtained by the Miami New Times. Gillum’s name and date of birth match the incident report, which could be found this morning on Twitter.
Miami Beach Police attended a call at the Mondrian South Beach Hotel in response to a cardiac-arrest. Miami Beach Fire-Rescue was on the scene when police arrived, and were treating a man who had suffered a drug overdose, but whose condition was stable.
The man, Travis Dyson, was sharing a room with another man, Aldo Meijas, and they were due to meet up at the hotel late last night. When Mejias arrived, Dyson collapsed and began to vomit. Mejias administered CPR, and called 911 emergency services.
According to the incident report, Gillum was in the room as well, and was “under the influence of an unknown substance.” He was also sick, and according to officers, he was unable to speak to them due to his intoxicated condition.
