A sex offender is among two new suspects arrested by police in Eugene, Ore. in relation to a Black Lives Matter-Antifa riot that occurred earlier in the year.
Devin Wayne Nordman, 23, and Michaela Skye Grady, 18, were taken into custody earlier this week following a seven-month investigation into a large riot that broke out after George Floyd’s death in downtown Eugene in May.
Nordman is a convicted sex offender.
On May 29, several hundred rioters, including Antifa black bloc, caused widespread damage to property and businesses in Eugene. They committed acts of arson, burglary, robbery, assault and other violent crimes. Grady and Nordman are now among 21 people arrested so far by Eugene Police in the on-going investigation.
Nordman was arrested and charged on Monday for violating parole, second-degree felony burglary, first-degree felony theft and felony riot.
Nordman was previously convicted both in 2017 and 2019 for failing to register as a sex offender in accordance with Oregon state law. Both times he was sentenced to two years of supervised probation over the felony crimes.
Grady was booked into Lane County Jail and charged with three counts of second-degree felony burglary, three counts of first-degree felony theft and three counts of felony riot.
Both she and Nordman were released on pre-trial with a court hearing scheduled for Jan. 27.
As in Portland, Ore., riots have occurred throughout the year in Eugene involving Antifa and other far-left extremists.
Eugene Police’s Special Investigations Unit continues their investigation into the May antifa riot in particular. Other arrestees over that incident include Tyler James Hendry, 29, Cheyenne Mariah Bull, 25, and Courtney Nicole Hallett, 19.
Detectives ask the public to call the Eugene Police tip line at 1-541-262-5388 for help identifying.
