His son, Patrick, posted to social media, “So this is the toughest thing I’ve ever had to say but here we go. My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us.”
Famed actor and two-time Golden Globe nominee Ryan O’Neal has died at the age of 82.
His son, Patrick, posted to social media, "So this is the toughest thing I’ve ever had to say but here we go. My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us," according to TMZ.
While the cause of death has not been revealed, O’Neal has suffered a number of health problems, including being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012 and chronic leukemia in 2001.
O’Neal is known for film appearances including in "Love Story," "What’s Up, Doc," "Paper Moon," "The Main Event," and "Barry Lyndon, as well as television roles in shows such as "The Untouchables," "Leave It To Beaver," and "Empire," according to the New York Post.
O’Neal’s last television appearances came on 24 episodes of Bones, ending in 2017, and his final film, "The Waste Lands," is in development.
O’Neal trained to be a professional boxer before his time on the big screen, competing in two Golden Gloves championships in LA in the 1950s, and ending with an amateur fighting record of 18 wins, four losses.
He was married to Joanna Moore from 1963 to 1967, with the pair having two children. He then married Leigh-Taylor Young in 1967, with the two divorcing in 1971, and the pair had one son. O’Neal was with Farrah Fawcett between 1979 and 1997, and again from 2001 until her death in 2009, and had one son together. The two never married.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
