View on XBiden had charges brought against him by US Attorney acting as Special Counsel David Weiss in September related to false statements on a background check form to obtain a firearm. The charges related from those false statements cam after a plea agreement broke down breakdown in a Delaware courtroom.
Legal expert Jonathan Turley speculated that these charges could be an attempt to disrupt Hunter Biden's congressional testimony that has been scheduled slated for December 13th. Biden was subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee and is expected to be asked about the relationship his father President Joe Biden has had with his foreign business deals over the years.
"The immediate question is whether this leak will be used to kick over the table in Congress," Turley said. "Hunter was holding a bad hand with a real threat of contempt if he failed to appear for the deposition... After the leak, he could invoke his right to remain silent in light of the refusal to allow him to testify publicly and the second indictment. That would require a vote of immunity from Congress to force him to testify, which will not likely occur..."

View on XIn the ongoing five-year investigation into Hunter Biden, Weiss, who became special counsel after asking Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint him to the post, convened a grand jury in Los Angeles last month. As part of this extensive probe, a subpoena was issued to James Biden, the first brother. The focus of Weiss' investigation has been Hunter Biden's alleged failure to pay taxes on income earned from overseas ventures, as reported by CNN in November.

View on XIn a plea deal that collpased, Biden had agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges related to his failure to pay a minimum of $100,000 on earnings exceeding $1.5 million in both 2017 and 2018. It was alleged by IRS whistleblowers that their investigation into Hunter Biden's tax issues was hindered by the Biden administration, and prior to that was hindered by the Department of Justice itself, which, per whistleblower Gary Shapley, put up road blocks on the investigation once it became clear in 2020 that Biden would be the Democrat nominee for president.
Weiss chose not to press charges against Biden for suspected tax offenses committed in southern California and Washington, DC. This decision followed the refusal of cooperation by US attorneys in both districts regarding his investigation.
According to Shapley, Biden is accused of evading taxes on $8.3 million in income earned between 2014 and 2019. This period coincided with his tenure on the boards of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity fund BHR Partners.
On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump demanded that Hunter Biden be treated similarly to how his children were treated when they were deposed over the infamous Russian collusion hoax.
The comments come after Hunter Biden was subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee to testify before Congress on December 13 to discuss evidence-based allegations surrounding the Biden family's shady foreign business dealings, and whether or not President Biden was involved in the influence-peddling schemes.
