Terrorists operate all over the world and recruit online. To keep terrorism and extremism out of our Country, we need to have smart, commonsense rules in place so we don’t repeat the many immigration mistakes made by Europe -- and the USA prior to 'Trump.'”

This response by Trump was likely brought on by a recent move from the Biden administration to substantially increase the refugee cap. According to Press Secretary Jen Psaki, the White House is pushing for 125,000. The previous cap set by Trump was 15,000.
Over the weekend, even if it was inadvertently, President Biden acknowledged the situation on the US - Mexico border as a crisis. This came after several weeks of controversy over the administration’s handling of the situation.
