With the recent renewed interest surrounding Twitter, given Tesla CEO Elon Musk taking a controlling share of the company, Twitter's communications staff on Tuesday announced they've been tinkering on an edit feature since last year.

View on XTwitter pointed out they weren't joking when they teased the news on April Fool's Day. Former CEO Jack Dorsey had previously gone on the record saying the company would "probably" never do it.
Staffers say they'll have a trial phase to see what works and what doesn't when it comes to exact details about the feature, using the Twitter Blue aspect of the site as a testing ground for that process.
They mention that they didn't get the idea from a certain Twitter poll, by that they mean a recent inquiry fielded by Musk, now one of the largest shareholders. After the large share buy, Musk was also appointed to Twitter's board.

View on XWhile Musk misspelled both "YES" and "NO," supporters of his recent decision to become a key player at the company mention how significant it is that he actually uses the website on a regular basis, amassing over 80 million followers.
Multiple articles in recent years have pointed out how Musk has directly responded on Twitter, to user complaints about Tesla, on more than one occasion. He has even incorporated features for Tesla products based on that feedback.
At the onset of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Musk once again displayed this on-the-fly product innovation. Not only did he send Starlink satellites to the war-torn country, he developed features in the technology to accommodate conditions on the ground.
Twitter head of consumer product Jay Sullivan commented that Twitter's team has been exploring how to build an edit feature in "a safe manner since last year and plan to begin testing it within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months."
