Dave Chapelle’s alleged attacker says he was inspired by Will Smith’s Oscar slap of Chris Rock

Lee, 23, told the Post during his second interview with the outlet in the Twin Towers Correctional facility in Downtown Los Angeles, "That’s not right what [Chris Rock] said about his wife, calling her GI Jane," referencing the now infamous joke the comedian made about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss from alopecia, which Smith claimed is what triggered him to walk on stage at the Oscars and slap Rock.

Lee said the incident inspired him to run on to the stage and tackle Chappelle during the May 3 "Netflix is a Joke" show at the Hollywood Bowl. The attack came after the comedian made jokes about the homeless and people in the LGBTQ community.

"I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect. I wanted Dave Chappelle and people to know that these are things you need to be more sensitive about and not joke about," Lee claimed.

During a previous interview on Saturday, Lee told the Post that he is a bisexual and a sexual abuse survivor who was previously homeless. However, on Monday he also told the outlet that the attack was an attempt to raise his profile as a rap star.

Lee also who goes by the name "NoName_Trapper" once wrote a song about Chappelle. Lee admitted, "I’m not going to lie… it was a bit of clout-chasing. In Hollywood, you know they say there is no such thing as bad publicity. I rap about these things in my music and knew it would get attention."

Lee claimed that the stunt earned him some celebrity credit in jail from fellow inmates. "They come up to me and ask, 'Hey, are you the guy who went up to Dave Chappelle?'" He added, "I feel safer here right now than being outside because I’m going to need to find and hire security."

Lee, had told the outlet in a previous interview that he did not have mental health issues. However, during the follow up claimed that he suffers from bipolar depression disorder but was on his medications during the attack. "There are plenty of famous people who have bipolar disorder – Kanye West, Demi Lovato, Eminem – and they are able to speak about it."

"Just because you are bipolar, it doesn’t stop you from… reaching success."

Lee also claimed that after the attack Busta Rhymes and Jamie Foxx "jumped" him backstage, repeatedly pulled his hair and kicked him. Lee alleged, "They were stomping on me all over and on my ribs and said, 'Are you stupid, kid? Why the hell did you do that?'"

"I couldn't say anything. They kept kicking me. For a few days, it was hard for me to breathe. At one point, someone spit on me, but I don't know who."

During the attack on Chappelle, Foxx was one of the first people to come onstage to help. Chappelle thanked Foxx for the assistance and joked joking that Busta Rhymes helped "stomp" the suspect. Several days after the assault, Chappelle's publicist told TMZ that the remarks were part of an act and denied Rhymes and Foxx were involved with taking down the assailant.

Lee is facing four misdemeanor counts for the assault. He was injured by Chappelle's security in ensuing fight after he tackled Chappelle. The scuffle left him with both eyes blackened and a broken arm, which was still reportedly in a sling at the time of the interview.
