Event management and ticketing company Eventbrite has canceled an upcoming women's rights event set to be held in Austin, Texas claiming it violates "Hateful, Dangerous or Violent Content and Events" policy.
The Let Women Speak rally, which was set to be held on August 12, was canceled by the online platform, with Eventbrite’s Trust & Safety team reaching out to the event organizer via email to inform them of the decision. Michelle Evans, Round Rock Texas Chapter Leader for Independent Women’s Network (IWN), was informed that her "event is not permitted on the Eventbrite platform as it violates our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service." She was also warned that "severe or repeated violations of our guidelines may result in the suspension or termination of your Eventbrite account."

View on XAfter the organizer shared a screenshot of the email she received on Twitter, hundreds of Twitter users slammed the online platform. Canadian journalist and feminist Meghan Murphy, who is featured at the event, condemned the decision, saying “Eventbrite has removed our upcoming Let Women Speak Austin event from their site, determining that women speaking about women’s sex-based rights and protections are ‘hateful.’”
IWN, the co-sponsor of the event, has released a lengthy statement criticizing the decision. In the statement, Carrie Lukas the President of IWF, the partner organization for IWN, said “Eventbrite’s actions and lack of response is the epitome of cancel culture, and showcases bigotry and hatred towards women. Independent Women’s Network is dedicated to standing up for women’s rights and for free speech across the board. The censorship must end.”
The women's organization has also sent a letter to Eventbrite to educate the company on "free speech" and "women's right to stand up for our opportunities, spaces and dignity."
Two of the largest major shareholders in Eventbrite, which is valued at $1 billion, are Blackrock and Vanguard. Both investment firms have become notorious for pushing woke policies using DEI, CEI and ESG. Blackrock holds a 6.95% share and Vanguard holds a 9.33% share.
Despite Eventbrite removing the event from their site, the event is set to go ahead, with the organizer telling The Post Millennial it will happen "with or without Eventbrite as a platform."
