Fani Willis claims her alleged lover’s ex-wife ‘conspired’ with Trump co-defendant to ‘oppress’ her

In a court filing, Willis claimed that Nathan Wade's estranged wife Joycelyn Wade "conspired" with Mike Roman in an attempt to get charges against him dismissed, UPI news reports. The two were married for 26 years.

On Thursday, a Georgia judge gave Willis until Feb. 2 to formally respond to allegations that she had an affair with Nathan Wade, the lawyer she hired as a special prosecutor overseeing the case of alleged election fraud against former President Donald Trump and 14 alleged co-conspirators.

Roman, who worked for Trump’s campaign in 2020, was the defendant who, in a court filing, made the allegations of the affair against the district attorney and requested Willis be disqualified from the case and the charges against him dismissed.

In response, Willis is now arguing that Wade’s ex-wife and Roman are conspiring to undermine the district attorney in advance of the Trump trial.

Willis' attorney Cinque Axam asked a judge to quash a subpoena that required Willis to testify in a pretrial deposition in the divorce case. The allegation was that Wade's wife "had used the civil discovery process 'to annoy, embarrass and oppress Willis."

In a court filing, her attorney stated that Willis “cannot provide unique personal knowledge of any matter that is relevant” to Wade’s divorce because the couple agreed their marriage was “irretrievably broken,” which she calls a “legal conclusion” that signifies that “there is no hope for reconciliation.”

The timing of the case filings, Willis' attorney claimed, seemed "'conspicuously coordinated' with Roman as she was served a subpoena the same day Roman's filing was made public and his attorney moved to unseal the divorce case," Roman said.

Judge Scott McAfee, who is presiding over Willis’ case against Trump and his co-defendants for allegedly seeking to overturn the 2020 election, ordered the district attorney to file a written response to the allegations by February 2.
